About the 2021 Season

The 2021 showcase season is a bit different than previous seasons, not just because of the challenges and uncertainty presented by Coronavirus, but also because the competition is being held here in Fort Collins at our own rink!

Rehearsals during the school year will likely be 1 hour per week on Saturday mornings. In the summer, we’ll have 3 on ice practices per week, likely on Tues, Wed, and Thursday mornings 7:00 – 8:15 a.m.

The plan is to use the minis we worked so hard on last year for the 2021 season: Six, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Spongebob Squarepants, and Disney Royals. Depending on changes in group membership, minis will be adjusted to fit the new roster. We will try to minimize changes to casting and choreography.

The large ensemble will be ALL NEW! Marianne and the other EP coaches are working hard on finalizing a new program for all 2021 skaters. They will announce the large production number and its casting in January.

We’ll perform the large ensemble program in the Spring Spectacular show in June, 2021.

About the Casting Call

Sign-ups are due by December 10th. The casting call is conducted in groups of skaters, organized by level. It lasts about 30 minutes for each group. You will not skate an individual program. You’ll be asked by coaches to perform jumps, spins, theatrical tricks, and an interpretive group skate.

Skaters will be placed into a casting call group based on level according to their Moves in the Field test as of December 5th, 2020. Most likely, Juvenile and below will skate from 4:00 – 4:45, and Intermediate and above from 5:00 to 6:00. Specific times will be emailed to everyone who signs up.

The purpose of the casting call is to place skaters into roles for the large and mini ensembles, as well as create choreography that best suits the skaters. Placements are based on skating level, skill, age, size, and the number of skaters.
