Our director Marianne has shared the following announcement about the postponement of the 2020 National Showcase competition to 2021.
Dear skaters and parents,
It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that the National Showcase 2020 competition has been postponed to August of 2021. Fort Collins Figure Skating Club will host the competition in 2021, which means we still get the joy of performing in our hometown and participating in all the fun that hosting such a prestigious event brings!
Please be sure to thank the Showcase competition committee and our club president for their many, many hours of hard work on our club’s behalf.
This announcement means that our rehearsals for EPIC Productions will finish at the end of May. We will still host virtual off-ice practices for the two final weeks of May on Wednesdays and Saturdays, May 20th, 23rd, 27th, and 30th. I hope you can keep joining us on Zoom to continue developing your skills in choreography and theatricality.
We will calculate actual expenses paid and issue refunds for any fees paid that are more than expenses to date. Melody and Rosa will send follow up emails about fees and returning any costumes you have at home soon.
All your amazing effort has not gone to waste, though! We hope to use those costumes, choreography, and great skills you have developed for next year’s competition. We’ll be thinking hard about next year’s ensembles and how much we can keep for 2021, and I’ll keep you posted about that.
The coaches and I want to thank all of you for your continued dedication and commitment to our team, especially during this difficult time. I am so proud of each of you for showing up and supporting your fellow teammates so that we all may return to the ice stronger and united. Seeing you all each week has truly brought joy and light to our lives!
A big shout out to our skaters that have presented work outs, skills and performance content each week. Your leadership makes us stronger, keeps us growing and provides motivation for us all. We are beyond grateful to you for all your efforts these past months, you all are truly inspiring!
A special thank you to the EPIC PRODUCTIONS coaches for all your efforts, wonderfully working together, staying positive and focused on our future!
I am proud and humbled to have the opportunity to work with all of you. We will get through this because of each of you. We will take the strength and resilience developed during these past few months into the next season and thrive. Stay safe, stay healthy and I look forward to being back on the ice, together again.
Best regards,
Marianne
